CHOIR SECTIONS

Little Kid Singers ("Zpívánky")

Once in a while, a little kid, no older than five, came to enroll with desire to sing. Sometimes we persuaded parents to wait a year or two. Another time the desire was so strong that we allowed the little singer to join Pink Kids, still as a preschool. We resisted for a long time. After all, we are very delighted that our choir family branched out into this section of our smallest little singers.

Pink Kids ("Růžové děti")

Primarily boys and girls of first and second school grade (aged 6–8) sing in Pink Kids. They usually stay for two years. In the first year, they learn the basics of singing habits, a year later they help instill their experience into the newcomers. Pink Kids regularly perform at concerts in Šumperk and at the end of school year we organize a day long concert trip for them.

Colorful Kids ("Barevné děti")

Named after their colorful concert dresses, these kids are little more experienced singers. They usually attend third and fourth school grade (aged 8–10). They already know the basic singing skills and how to handle concert singing, summer camp and traveling for a few days.

As in other choir sections, they perform in Šumperk (First Concert of Pink Kids, Christmas Concert, Spring Concert), generally go on concert tours, visit their friends from other choirs and in return host these friends in their families in Šumperk.

In summer, Colorful Kids get together at our camp in Švagrov where apart from new songs they learn a great deal of games and have lots of fun. 

Flamingoes ("Plameňáci")

Flamingoes are the third prep choir section. Children are allowed to sing here until they finish their primary school education (aged 15) or they can proceed to the concert section "Motýli".

Flamingoes do not hold concerts just in Šumperk. Every year, they go on concert tours outside the town limits to see their friends from other choirs. Flamingoes are more experienced singers able to manage music pieces for two, sometimes even three voices. Every now and then, they explore the realms of classical music repertoire. Together with Colorful and Pink Kids, they enjoy the five-day long summer camp in Švagrov.

Motýli – the concert choir

The concert choir Motýli is the driving force behind, supporting the entire complex of the great choir. The concert choir enrolls those children who, apart from necessary singing skills, are presumed to cope with a heavy load of new experience. Also, they must be able to manage their time properly in order to gradually master their expanding duties. There is no need to give up other activities. Sooner or later, however, comes the time when it becomes very demanding to split one's attention and genuine dedication to more objectives. May the reward be a great number of extraordinary moments to remember, response from audience, possibility to discover beautiful places and meet remarkable characters. In the course of one choral season, Motýli holds approximately 30 concerts and performances. They go on a tour abroad every year. In recent years, the tours have been directed to international competitive festivals – in 2016 to Preveza, Greece and Barcelona, Catalonia, a year later to Malta and in 2018 to Bergen, Norway. To our great joy, we managed to come back from every festival with a highly valued award but also with a lot of experience and motivation to further efforts. It is impossible to master a complex repertoire only at regular practice lessons during the school year. Therefore, several multiday seminar meetings and spring and summer camps are on the schedule of this section.
